Facing Our Fear

In life we all face challenges; we all are required to take decisions, accept changes. We are often thrown out from our comfort zones and the impact of all this would be too hard on us. Sometimes we resist the change, we feel upset, anxious and fearful. New challenges and responsibilities make us look around for help, we ask for help with decisions to the ones whom we feel wise; we may google out for the best options, we may analyze our past experiences; but the wisest of them all is bringing your fearful and anxious mind to the presence of God, who can show you His perfect will for you. Facing your challenges with God on your side…proceeding in the right direction by searching and finding His perfect will for your life; isn’t it wonderful to start your new challenge with God’s word or revelation upon it!

The book of Joshua starts with an affirmation, God spoke to Joshua.“After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying:  “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. ”. Joshua 1:1-2

God speaks to Joshua, asking him to arise, to get up from the place where they are now, and to move on. The death of Moses, does not stop them from entering the promise God gave to the children of Israel, it’s God’s will that they should enter the land, inherit it and find rest. After 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, a group of people who never rested, moving from one camp to the other… God wants to give them rest. Crossing the Jordan signifies the entry in to the promised land, and it’s something that we cannot do on our self…the courage to cross Jordan comes from God, from His word and from His promise that He will be with us. Wandering in the wilderness is not God’s will for a child of God, but to enter Canaan, His promise of spiritual blessings and find rest in Him. We read in Ephesians 1:3,“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,  just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love” it’s the good will of God that every child of God should have an inheritance of every spiritual blessing.

God gave Joshua, encouragement and wisdom and revelation and also strengthened him for his purpose. What a great start, God appoints Joshua, and Joshua identifies His purpose when God speaks to Him. By asking Joshua to Arise, God is asking him to face his fear. God prepared Joshua for 40 years to build him to face everything on his way. God is not asking Joshua to ignore the fear, or bury it or deny it and pretend to be brave, but asking Him to face it, because God is going to be with him, he is not going alone, but God is alongside Joshua. And because God is with you and me, we can face our fears. Whatever makes us anxious, whatever makes us step back, God is asking us to go ahead and face it, His presence is with you!

When uncertainties come along our way, where do we look for help? Where do we lean to find solution? Let every journey, every beginnings big or small, start with the counsel of God. Identify our fears and bring it to the presence of God, He will fill us with the strength to face our fears one by one.

 In Christ Jesus,
